This colonial ladder back chair is strong and sturdy for its age. This early connecticut chair dates to the 1760's-1790's. This chair shows signs of early joinery. The posts are maple, turned on a spring pole lathe- and the oak spindles show lots of wear, as does any chair from this time. The old cattail seat has been replaced.
