This clock was made by Burr and Chittenden in Lexington Mass in 1831. This clock is fully restored. The works are a wooden groaner type movement original to this clock. Oak plates, cherry wheels and laurel pinions. This clock is in running condition. Original weights, pendulum bob, etc. The splat and top blocks are a replacement on this clock, however are original to the appearance of when this clock was first made. The mirror is also a replacement, as are most from this time period.
The pendulum bob on this clock is the icing on the cake... Traditionally a clock owner would write their name and location on the door panels, or other locations, but one of the owners in its history engraved the initials A.C on the rear of the pendulum bob above a piece of wheat. The initials M.C are also engraved below it.
Burr and Chittenden numbered this style case in order of production with a pencil number on the door. This clock is number 12 in the production line. The company was in business from 1831 through 1837. This clock is their earliest produced style
